There is a decaying certificate that he served in 7th Guards Division in 26th Infantry Regiment and was in the evacuation hospital 3101 on recovery from 11/08/1942, and on 12/24/1942. The EG 3101 commission recognized him unfit for military service due to absence of the left hand. _x000D_ My grandfather loved the Victory Day holiday very much. He put on his jacket with the Order of the Red Star and medals and went to the regional center for the Festival. He always came happy and very satisfied. _x000D_ In the village grandfather was respected. He was kind and helpful person. But he was also a brave man. Being without an arm, he could rush into a fight, protecting the weakest. I was very much impressed by it when I was a 15-year-old girl. Even then I understood what my Grandfather is worth.
