Kekalo Alexey Afanasevich
Alexey Afanasyevich Kekalo was born on November 30, 1931 in the Slavyansky district of the Krasnodar territory in the village of Petrovskaya. Mother Kekalo (Lakiza) Maria Andreyevna-Kuban Cossack, father Kekalo Afanasy Sergeevich worked in the blacksmith shop of the Stalingrad tractor plant during the war. The family had five children. In 1937, together with his family, he moved from Slavyansk-on-Kuban to Stalingrad. In 1941, the war began. Alexey Afanasyevich was 12 years old, he, like many children, was taken to the factory to work. From July 4, 1944, he worked in the blacksmith shop of the Stalingrad tractor plant, testing pumps for tanks. I was very tired, so I slept near the machine, because I didn't have the strength to go home. The children didn't finish their meal. From food, they gave a little bread for the whole working day, and worked for 12 hours. He lived with his parents in a dugout. The city was rebuilt from the ruins for many years. In 1950, my grandfather was drafted into the army and served on Sakhalin Island and the Kuril Islands. In 1954, he was demobilized and worked on the construction of the Volga hydroelectric power station. Participated in the construction of Mamayev Kurgan. While working, he studied at the music school in Stalingrad. In 1955, he married. Since 1960, he worked as a music teacher at the school. Created in Volgograd an orchestra of folk instruments, a boys ' choir of 100 people. He performed to the accompaniment of the Bayan orchestra. He was a Director and conductor. In 1996, he moved with his family to a permanent place of residence in Slavyansk-on-Kuban. Before retiring, he worked as a music teacher at school No. 8. Even in retirement, he loved to play the accordion and was engaged in growing grapes. Labor veteran. He died at his home on January 14, 2011, at the age of 79.
