In my family, my dad's great-grandfather fought. This is Sladkov Grigory Sergeevich (father of my grandmother). Great-grandfather Grigory was born in 1902 in the Bologovsky district of the Kalinin region. In 1924 he was drafted into the army, and on November 15, 1925 he was demobilized. On July 13, 1941, the Bologovsky RVK was drafted into the army for mobilization. He fought on the Volkhov, Leningrad, Third Baltic and Second Baltic fronts since August 18, 1941.Duty position - telephone operator of the telephone and cable company, 730th separate communications battalion, 288th rifle Dnovsky division. On August 24, 1944, during the offensive operations of the division north of the city of Valga, Estonian SSR, my great-grandfather was the supervisor of the communication line going from the division headquarters to the 1012th rifle regiment. The enemy, fiercely resisting, conducted fierce artillery and mortar fire. The communication line was constantly out of order. My great-grandfather, risking his life, under the destructive fire of the enemy, quickly and skillfully corrected damage after damage. So, in a short time, 30 minutes, he repaired 8 damage and thus provided uninterrupted telegraph communication between the division command and the advancing regiment, thereby facilitating the success of our troops in the offensive. On September 9, 1944, Sladkov Grigory Sergeevich was awarded the medal "For Courage" for exemplary performance of a combat mission, for his courage and valor. On March 12, 1945, during the offensive operations of the division in the city of Saldus, the Latvian SSR, my great-grandfather and the Red Army soldier Mukhtar Alikulov received a combat mission: to establish a cable communication line from the observation post of the division commander to the assault group of the 1016th rifle regiment. Despite the shelling of the enemy, risking their lives, Sladkov and Alikulov established a communication line on time and provided the division commander with telephone communication with the assault group fighting the enemy, thereby contributing to the success of our troops in the offensive. On March 30, 1945, my great-grandfather and his comrade Mukhtar Alikulov were awarded medals "For Courage" for their displayed bravery. On March 23, 1945, due to a wound in his right arm, Grigory Sergeevich Sladkov returned home. The dead will not be reminded of that terrible war, so we should know as much as possible about them.
