In the 1920 he served in the Polish army (85th Vilna Rifle Regiment, the 19th Infantry Division, stationed in Novovileyka, on the outskirts of Vilna). In 1930 he went to work at the Anzen mine (Compagnie des mines d'Anzin) in France. Poles, Czechs, Belarusians, Yugoslavs worked together with him. It was time of the Great Depression, he recalled how the coffee was thrown from barges and destroyed, the strikes of French workers who hated migrants from Eastern Europe replacing them. _x000D_ Participant of the Great Patriotic War from July 19 (October 12, military operations) 1944 to March 3, 1945 (2nd Ukrainian Front). He served in the 316th Temryuk Rifle Division in the 1075th Rifle Regiment (rifleman of the 6th company). He was wounded in the arm by an explosive bullet by a sniper during the liberation of Budapest (Hungary) on February 3, 1945. _x000D_ In the battle for Budapest on February 5, 1945, while repelling a German counterattack, he killed 7 German soldiers and presented the medal “For Courage”. After being wounded, he was undergoing treatment in the evacuation hospital No. 3754, No. 3321, No. 3314, No. 6033 (since March 22, 1945, a certificate of injury was issued on May 15, 1945). _x000D_ Awards: medal “For Capture of Budapest” (February 13, 1945), medal “For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945”, medal “For Courage” (November 20, 1945, No. 3210333), medal “For Military Merit” (no number), medal "20 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."
