Streshnev Vasily Alexandrovich

He was born in the village of Nikolskoye, Mezhdurechensky District, Vologda Region. He began his career in 1938, as a livestock technician, after graduating from the Gryazovets Agricultural Technical school. In 1939 he was drafted into the border troops. He passed military service near Brest, where he faced the Nazis, with the rank of Starshina. He retreated with regular units to the Luga line, where, after being reorganized, he was sent to the regular army and began participating in the Leningrad defensive operation. _x000D_ During the Leningrad Siege, he took part not only in the defense of the city, but also in the construction of the “Road of Life”, across Lake Ladoga. Due to his serious health condition, he was evacuated to a hospital near Moscow. After recovering in 1943, he graduated from Artillery courses as a Commander of the Katyusha rocket launcher battery, with the rank of Lieutenant. t|e Took part in the liberation of Budapest, Vienna, Koenigsberg. _x000D_ At Konigsberg, as the Commander of the BM-13 division, he received a severe concussion and was sent to the hospital, where he celebrated Victory. _x000D_ After the end of the war, he was commissioned with the rank of Guard Captain and began work as an agronomist in the Vologda Region. In 1946 he graduated from the Vologda regional party school and until 1949 worked in the District party committee in the town of Kirillov in the Vologda Region, then in the apparatus of the Vologda party committee. He worked in party and people's control bodies. After retirement, he headed the regional Council for Nature Protection. He passed away in 1986 in Vologda. He was buried at the Poshekhonskoye cemetery.
