My grandfather, Tyutenkov Sergey Ivanovich, a native of the village of Kazanka, Sladkovsky district, Tyumen region, was born on August 10, 1918. In 1939 he was drafted into the army, his wife Praskovya Petrovna and little son Yuri stayed at home. In 1941, when the war began, he was 22 years old. He fought in Belarus. The first days were the hardest. The fascist attacked with terrible force. Attack after attack, the Red Army was holding on to the last bullet. He fought with his fellow countryman Evgeny Vasilievich Vasiliev. They were stuck together. After the bloody combat, they both cried and rejoiced that they remained alive. Day after day there was a damned war, the German was advancing, and the order was received from the headquarters to retreat. They were leaving village after village to the enemy, retreated with combats through the forests, through the Belarusian swamps. _x000D_ At the end of September 1941, retreating, they came to the village at night. There was a hut on the edge of the village, where they knocked. Old woman came out and said that there were no Germans, and let them into the house. There were several of them, among them was a commanding officer. They asked to stay until dawn. _x000D_ The Russian bath was heated, they washed, ate and lay down to rest. This old woman quietly got up, went out of the hut and brought the Germans. The Germans in cars with machine guns and dogs surrounded the hut and took them all out into the street. My grandfather asks our soldier who understood German: "Will they shoot us?"And he quietly whispered to him that thyw would be taken prisoners. The old woman pointed to the Commander to the Germans. The Germans seized him and took him away, and so his grandfather never saw him again. My grandfather had been in a concentration camp in Germany. In 1945, Soviet troops liberated him, and he continued to fight. _x000D_ He participated in the capture of Koenigsberg. And at home all this time his wife Praskovya was waiting, she worked in the rear and every day she was waiting for letters from him. During all this time there was not a single letter from him. Praskovya wrote to Moscow, an answer was received that he was missing in action. A loving heart waited and felt that he was alive. _x000D_ My grandfather lived a long life, after the war he worked as a starshina on a livestock farm in his native kolkhoz. He did not like to talk about the war and remember those terrible days of his youth. My grandfather was awarded the medal "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945", the Order of the Patriotic War of 2nd degree, the medal "For Courage" and other awards.
