In order to take a tractor driver's course, he went to his native village to get a birth certificate, but the documents were lost after the death of his parents. I had to restore them, and in order to be older and go to study as a tractor driver, my grandfather deliberately added an extra year to his age, because they took courses from the age of 14, and he was only 13.From this point on, the grandfather's date of birth is may 20, 1922, not 1923. After completing the course, my grandfather worked as a tractor driver in the timber industry until 1941. When the war began, he, like many residents of the country, did not stay away, but was eager to go to the front (he was only 18 years old at that time). The assigned year also helped him here, after training as a tank driver and radio operator, he fought as part of the 1-st guards tank brigade. The brigade was transferred to the most severe battles. In one of the battles at the river crossing, my grandfather's tank was hit and almost completely submerged in water. The entire crew of the tank was killed, but the grandfather was still alive! Although he was badly injured and shell-shocked. On the second day after the battle, it was accidentally discovered by passing Russian troops. My grandfather was taken to the hospital, after treatment, he could no longer control the tank and was sent to train as a gunner of the “Katyusha” anti-aircraft multiple-launch rocket launcher.
