It was not a calm area. He had to pacify the greedy samurai on Lake Hassan. Lieutenant Lugovoi,knowledgeable mountain-shooting and sniper business, served in the east in the highlands, trained personnel for the upcoming battles. In 1942 he was sent to the city of Tyumen in a training brigade to train snipers for the front. When the Soviet Army began to approach the Carpathians with battles, Semyon Nikiforovich was sent to the 4th Ukrainian Front, where they were preparing to attack in the mountains - along the roads of Suvorov. The commander of a rifle company, and then the commander of the headquarters of the rifle battalion Lugovoi S.N. took part in the liberation of Uzhgorod. The regiment was ordered to occupy a strategically important height. The regiment completed this task, but was surrounded. For 12 days without food, with a small supply of ammunition, the enemy's onslaught was held back, while the guard battalion arrived in time to help them break through the encirclement. Later - heavy fighting, first on the approaches, and then on the streets of Budapest. For the battles in the Carpathians and the liberation of Budapest, the Supreme Command expressed gratitude to all units, who distinguished themselves were awarded. Senior Lieutenant S.N. Lugovoi was awarded two Orders of the Red Star. He met the long-awaited Victory Day in the hospital - during the liberation of Vienna, he received a serious injury to his cervical spine. But the war for S.N. Lugovoi was not over. His unit, where he returned from the hospital (despite the protests of doctors), was assigned to the east against militaristic Japan, where he participated in the defeat of its troops until complete surrender. Only in 1946 he returned to his family in Rostov-on-Don.
