Gorkov Vasilyi Alexandrovich

Gorkov Vasily Alexandrovich went to the front in January 1943 with the rank of Red Army soldier, as a sapper-scout of the 114th Engineer-sapper order of the Red Star Battalion. He showed courage and bravery in offensive battles against the German invaders. He resolutely and boldly defended his line during taking the height of 208.9 on August 30,1943. In the rank of the Corporal Vasily Gorkov received the Medal ""For bravery"" (September 3,1943). During the actions in the Carpathians, racon Gorkov completed many combat missions to explore the enemy's front line, engineering reconnaissance of roads, bridges and barriers. On March 20, 1944, while scouting the route, Gorkov was twice wounded by shell fragments, but with a broken arm completed the task and the command received valuable information. For the heroism shown on November 13.1944, he was presented with the Medal ""For military merit"": a Red Army Sapper - scout Gorkov volunteered to go on reconnaissance behind enemy lines. On the night of October 21,1944 with three fellow scouts, he crossed the front line and passed through the enemy's rear along 20 km. He checked the specified lane and scouted the degree and direction of traffic on the roads. For three days, the brave scouts were in the enemy's rear, conducting surveillance. They returned with the valuable information, once again crossing the cutting edge. He first came over the trenches of the enemy,set the location of strip mining in front of the trenches and the task command was completed on time. In May 22,1945 the Corporal Gorkov was in the position of the sapper-scout of the 114th Engineer-sapper order of the Red Star Battalion of the 6th Engineer-sapper Starokonstantinovskaya order of Suvorov Brigade. He was awarded the order of the ""Red Star"". Because of his injury, Vasily Gorkov was demobilized."
