Vasily Ivanovich Kosarev was born in 1911, in the village of Brykovka, Dukhovnitsky district, where he lived before the war. He served as Private recon in 64th Howitzer- Artillery Regiment of Western Front from July 1941. In August 1941 he was taken prisoner. He was In captivity in the city of Vienna, Austria from August 25, 1941 until May 5, 1945. For conscientious work after the war he was awarded two medals "For development of virgin lands" and a medal "For Victory over Germany."
