Prokofiev V. Я. - participant Of the WWII. Born June 21, 1921 in the village of Shishlovo, Ostrovsky district, Pskov region. Called to the USSR Supreme Soviet on October 12, 1939 by the Vasileostrov Regional Military Commissariat of Leningrad. From October 12, 1939 to June 1940 - a cadet of the Krechevitsky School of Junior Air Specialists of the Leningrad Region. From September 1941 to July 1946, he was an air gunner and radio operator of 63rd night bomber artillery regiment of the 132nd artillery division, Transcaucasian Front, Independent Coastal Army, 4th Ukrainian Front, 1st and 2nd Belarusian Fronts. During this time of WWII has made 312 successful flights.
