Vasily Dmitrievich Mikhailov, Junior Lieutenant. From May to November 1941, he studied at a special fire-fighting school under the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs in Tashkent. After graduation, he was sent as a paratrooper to the 4th Airborne Corps, where he served until May 1942. Then he was appointed commander of a rifle platoon of the 85th rifle regiment of the 32nd rifle division of the North Caucasus Front.
