Nikolai Pavlovich Seleznev

Nikolai Pavlovich Seleznev was born on 4 June 1922 in the village of Tyutchevo, Ryazan Province, Ranenburg County (now Chaplyginsky District, Lipetsk Region). Seleznev fought continuously against the enemy, passing the way from Orel to Belarus. During the war, Nikolai Pavlovich managed to transport hundreds of Soviet soldiers, a lot of equipment and ammunition across the Dnieper River without sleep or rest. On 15 January 1944, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union to junior sergeant N.P. Seleznev. After the feats of arms on the Dnieper, our countryman liberated Ukraine and Poland. On February 2, 1945, while performing a combat mission, a Red Army soldier was mortally wounded.
