Alexey Gavrilovich Kochetkov

Alexey Gavrilovich Kochetkov was born on March 30, 1918 in the village of Soloviye, Chaplyginsky district. He was drafted into the Red Army in 1938. Alexey Gavrilovich made his heroic feat in November 1942 in the area of the Belarusian city of Loiev when crossing the Dnieper River. Kochetkov's soldiers were the first to be there, who managed to gain a foothold on the captured bridgehead and cross the unit without serious losses. For the given feat the commander of partisan company Alexey Gavrilovich Kochetkov has been presented to a rank of the Hero of Soviet Union on January, 4th, 1944. However the award did not catch the hero. Alexey Gavrilovich was heroically killed on November 15, 1942.
