Festive staff meeting on November 7, 1941 in the basement of St. Isaac's Cathedral
Throughout the siege of Leningrad, the building of St. Isaac's Cathedral was the main repository of funds created by order of the Leningrad City Council on July 15, 1941 of the "United Museum Economy". Numerous works of art from the collections of the city's museums and suburban palaces-museums were kept here. In the most difficult conditions of the harsh days of the blockade, often at the cost of their own lives, the museum staff managed to save a piece of our country's cultural heritage for posterity. Their professionalism, intense work and personal courage are forever inscribed in the annals of the St. Isaac's Cathedral State Memorial Museum.
