Born in 1909, he was drafted for military service on mobilization by the Lenin Military Industrial Complex in July 1941. He took the military oath of allegiance to his Homeland on November 7, 1941. He took part in battles with the Nazi invaders as part of the Western, Southwestern, and First Ukrainian Fronts as commander of the T-34 battalion, 2nd tank Battalion, and the 162nd Novogorod Tank Brigade of the Order of Kutuzov.
