Tsupilo Nikolai Trofimovich was born in 1916 in Ukraine. He lived in a small village. He loved children very much and therefore always wanted to become a teacher. He had a large family, five brothers. After school, he entered the pedagogical technical school, and when he finished, he went to work at a local school Nikolai Trofimovich was supposed to teach biology and geography, but since there were not enough teachers, he had to teach other subjects. At that time, the teaching profession was considered very valuablĕ. The male teachers even had an exemption from military service, they were not taken into the army. But in 1939, the Second World War began, and even those who had liberation were taken into the army. Great-grandfather served two years, was supposed to serve another year and go homĕ. But in 1941 the Great Patriotic War began. Tsupilo Nikolai Trofimovich fought the entire war from the first to the last day, served in good faith. In 1941 he was wounded. He was offered to return home, but he refused and continued to serve. He received his first medal for the defense of Moscow. In August 1941, during the battles at the Solovyevskaya crossing, the regiment in which Nikolai Trofimovich served was subjected to brutal bombardment. It seemed that it was already impossible to get out of the shelling, but Nikolai Trofimovich led the soldiers out and saved the regimental banner. For this feat he was awarded the Order of the Great Patriotic War of the 2nd degree. December 1942 to February 1944 Tsupilo Nikolai Trofimovich was the assistant chief for rank and file and sergeant staff of the 79th Air Defense Division.
