But behind them is a whole human life and the life of his generation, with its joys and troubles. He was born in the village of Koken, Zhanasemeysky District, he did not remember his parents, since he had lost them early and was brought up by his grandfather. _x000D_ During the Great Patriotic War, Zhumagali Serkbolov studied at a Geological Prospecting College. After completing the 2nd year, he completed an internship at the Karsakpay field under the guidance of the famous scientist Kanysh Satpayev. When the war started, he was 22 years old. At the end of the 3rd course, in May 1940, Zhumagali Serikbolov was drafted into the army, and then to the front. He went through the whole war. _x000D_ Since August 1941, he fought as part of the troops of the Western Front and as a squad leader, and after graduating from the accelerated Courses of the Penza Artillery and Mortar School as a Platoon Commander on the 3rd Belorussian Front. In April 1945 he was awarded the medal “For Capture of Konigsberg”, where he was injured. _x000D_ He returned home in 1946 with the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two medals "For Courage", a letter of commendation from Stalin. He got a job as a journalist in a regional newspaper, and this was the only job for life. An eternal ascetic, he traveled all the farms and villages of the Semipalatinsk Region, he knew the land and the peasants who worked on. Keeping abreast of events, my father had a huge, unique mind with tons of information. _x000D_ Before retirement, he worked in the information and letters department. The readers knew their journalist well and turned to him with requests. He tried to help everyone, always responding to calls. The Museum of the History of the Geological Prospecting College in Semey stores documents and personal belongings of 71 veteran graduates, including documents and awards of the front-line soldier Zhumagali Serkbolov.
