The Great Patriotic War

Rank: Red Army. Type of troops: - ground forces, - air force (except naval aviation), - coastal service, - troops of the NKVD, - border troops. Unit: 348th Infantry Bobruisk Red Banner Order of Kutuzov Division. My paternal grandfather was missing for a very long time. We had no idea that we would ever find out anything about him. From the village council with. Lomov, Ramonsky district, Voronezh region, requests were sent to search for people who had not returned from the war. But for a very long time there was no news. My dad Nikolai Maksimovich Kharin, now deceased (died at 58 years old, 09/11/1997), shortly before his death at least learned that his father had died in battle on December 14, 1943 and was buried in the village of Asaya (in some documents d. Osoe) Rogachevsky district, Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus. The coordinator of the People's Immortal Regiment advised me to go to the Memory of the People website. When I entered, I could not believe my eyes. Even the documents are presented on this site, lists of the dead and where the remains of those killed from nearby villages are now reburied. My grandfather was reburied in a mass grave in the village of Mayskoye, Zhlobin district, Gomel region, Republic of Belarus. Below is a document from the "Memory of the People" site. I also learned that he served in the 348 rifle division in the 1170 regiment and was actively involved in hostilities. I would like to know in more detail: about the geography of hostilities, in what battles, perhaps there are some awards that my granddaughter and my daughters, that is, already great-granddaughters, know nothing about. But we do not yet know how to approach this, where to start and to whom and how to write correctly, so that there really is a result. But we are already happy that we managed to find out at least a little bit. From the words of a relative, I learned that my grandfather had traveled to Ukraine to earn money before the war, seemingly to the Donbass in the mines. They met their future wife, my grandmother Tanya (she has been since 1907) when he came home from Ukraine for a while. They merried. Grandma was 18 years old and he was 25 years old. And my grandfather took her to Ukraine. But she came home to give birth to children. Lomovo. According to relatives, I found out that they were a very beautiful couple, and both were very hard-working. My grandmother died at 60. To die, she went to Minvody to her daughter. I was in 1st grade, I was 7 years old when she died. And of course, I had no time to learn anything from her herself, either about my grandfather or about her life before the war. Was too small for that. I only know from relatives that before the war they gave birth to 5 children, but only two survived: daughter Ekaterina, born in 1934. and my son Nikolai, my father (born on 03/05/1939). They are no longer alive either. Ekaterina died at the age of 80 in 2014 in the city of Minvody, Stavropol Territory in the Caucasus. She left 3 sons. The rest of the children of grandfather Maxim and grandmother Tanya died very young in infancy, even before the war. Of course, I remembered that my grandmother loved me very much and I loved her too. She said: "My Ununyushka's eyes are round, like a doll's." She came to visit us in Voronezh with sunflower and pumpkin seeds. I still remember how they were unusually clean and tasty. She cleaned them for me herself. We went somewhere with her to visit in winter, there was a lot of snow ... I remember how my dad and I were visiting her in the village. Lomovo. I even remember her little house on a high mountain with a stove (on which my dad slept) and white walls. And only one room. I remember her delicious pancakes, boiled homemade eggs and her vegetable garden. We were doing something in this garden ... and there was a horse ... Dad put me on it, but not for long. She seemed very big to me. I was probably little, 3-4-5 years old I think. And I remember a huge log next to the house ... all in flowers ... Very beautiful! Now there is nothing in that place.

Rank: Chief Petty Officer Branch: Ground Forces, Air Force (except naval aviation), coastal service, NKVD troops, border troops Grandfather himself avoided talking about the war as much as he could, practically did not tell anything. Here is a letter on May 13, 2017, from the head teacher of the Devitskaya school and the teacher of Russian and literature Lyudmila Chernikova (Koptseva) to my mother: Hello, Svetlana. Here read the essay. Family duet As long as human memory is alive, time has no power over it! Years and decades pass, but the people of the Earth again and again return to the events of the Great Victory, which marked the triumph of life over death. Why do we remember the Great Patriotic War again and again? About her heroes? Because we are worried about the future. We must remember the past so that fascism does not repeat itself again. This is our duty to those who won the Victory. For this very purpose, our school decided to create a school museum. Examining the material for decorating stands about teachers of the war years, I find notes from the district newspaper, photographs from the school archive about the spouses of the Hodovs, who taught at the Devitskaya school since 1936. Grigory Grigorievich and Dina Konstantinovna Khodovs did not prepare themselves for teaching. In 1936, they graduated from the Usman political education college and received diplomas of district inspectors for political education. But not so many inspectors were required, and teachers, especially rural ones, were lacking at that time. The decision to work in the school of the village Devitsa young people was unanimous! In order to have the legal right to teach, the Chodovy passed exams as an external student and began to study in absentia at the teacher's institute. Then Dina Konstantinovna continued her studies at the Biological Faculty of the Voronezh University, and Grigory Grigorievich - at the Literary Faculty of the Voronezh Pedagogical Institute. They really liked working at the school: the entire teaching staff supported the creative atmosphere. But life makes its own adjustments. In 1938, Grigory Grigorievich was drafted into the Army. Chodov had to serve the Red Army as a driver on the border with Poland, in Bialystok. On the eve of the war, he and his colleagues were seconded for cars. And when they drove a lorry to Bialystok, fascist tanks were already rushing towards them. The column was bombed, the chauffeur soldiers who survived were surrounded, looking for their own. Grigory Grigorievich fought, was wounded several times. I reached Berlin, where I met Victory. For military services and bravery shown in battles, there are awards "For Military Merit", "For the capture of Berlin", "For victory over Germany." And Dina Konstantinovna continued to work as a teacher during the war years. In this difficult time for the country, the requirements for teaching and educational work have changed. She was given a militant patriotic character. The topics and teaching methods of subjects such as literature, history, geography, physics, biology, chemistry were revised. Within the framework of the school curriculum, the teaching of these subjects began to be as practical as possible. The school introduced topics of a military - defense orientation in order to establish a closer connection between the school and life. The newspaper Pravda wrote in those days: “No matter how engrossed in the war we are, caring for children and their upbringing remains one of the main tasks ... the law on universal education remains unshakable in war conditions. We must take into account all children and take into account well, despite the complexity of wartime ... No references to the military situation. ”Teachers in those years tried to teach well, conscientiously, and the students studied well, because it was a shame to dishonestly fulfill their duties to those who who was on the battlefield. Each of the Hodovykh spouses at that time performed a feat: Grigory Grigorievich - at the front, with arms in hand, Dina Konstantinovna - in the rear, daily and hourly taking care of the rural children. After the war, they continued to work as teachers, not in the least disappointed in their second profession. The Hodovy family had two children: son Yuri and daughter Svetlana. Over the years, they have accumulated not only a large store of knowledge, but also a huge practical experience. In the issues of the regional newspaper "New Life" of different years I read reviews of the school director I.A. Bessmertnykh, teachers N. Kireeva, A. Pisareva that Dina Konstantinovna “was one of the first to restructure the teaching of biological disciplines in the light of new requirements. She conducts her lessons creatively, with the use of wide visibility and a variety of pedagogical techniques, which for many years she has been achieving one hundred percent academic success. But there is no judge for Dina Konstantinovna stricter than her own conscience. She has a highly developed sense of introspection and self-control, which helps her bit by bit to select the most successful teaching methods, it is interesting and exciting to conduct lessons, laboratory and practical work, to achieve solid knowledge of students. " And then from the notes of the district I learn how indispensable Grigory Grigorievich was in the teaching staff of the Devitskaya school. The title of "school craftsman" was firmly established behind him.He really is a jack of all trades! “Wherever you look, the fruits of his labor are visible everywhere: a model of the terrain on a geographical site, a cemented reservoir on a school site, a sanitary corner skillfully cut out of plywood with a jigsaw, chemistry instruments, numerous tables - all this was done by his hands, or by schoolchildren under his leadership. ”But the village teachers did not stop there either. Grigory Grigorievich always helped in the decoration of the village library and club. He was not only hardworking, but also a courageous person. Despite the physical illness (war, captivity, wounds did their job), he does not lose his composure. The awareness that he was needed and useful to people helped him to fight the disease. Every day, overcoming pain, he tries to build for the benefit of others. Isn't this a feat ?! And Dina Konstantinovna was also engaged in social activities. For several years she was a member of the commission on public education of the regional Council of Working People's Deputies. The family of the Hodovy teachers lived in great friendship and harmony. And in the village, when everyone was in full view of each other, fellow villagers often turned to them for advice, with a request, because they trusted them. Work for them was a natural necessity, without it they could not imagine their life and devoted themselves entirely to their favorite work. The memory of this family duet of teachers still lives in our village, because their students are still alive, and they tell their children and grandchildren about their teachers, and in the school museum there is a page dedicated to people.

Rank: Sergeant. Type of troops: Signal troops. Division: 38th Infantry Division (2nd Formation). In the fall of 1939, the brothers Husen and his twin brother Khasen were drafted into the army. They became Red Army soldiers. Participation in a short war with Finland went well for the Khamizovs, and the brothers continued to serve in the Red Army in good faith. The attack of Hitler's Germany on the Soviet Union found the Caucasians at the western border. Fate decreed that Khasen died in a fiery whirlwind of war somewhere near Stalingrad, and his brother Husen became a sergeant. Fate threw a brave competent signalman to different combat points of the country. Remaining as a signalman, Husen had to let the Nazis close at close range and shoot them with a machine gun to help the unit cross the river. Later, Husen was admitted to the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, was appointed chief of the company, and the communists of the company elected him party organizer. During the liberation of Ukraine, Khamizov was seriously wounded. After treatment in the hospital, he was demobilized for disability. Returning home, Husen was immediately appointed instructor of the Zolsk district party committee and plunged into work. The war continued, the front demanded weapons, ammunition, fuel, clothing, food. Although the collective farms were left without men, equipment and horses, the district exceeded the grain supply plan and sent thousands of clothing and footwear and hundreds of tons of food to the front. And this is a considerable merit of the workers of the district party committee, including the war-disabled communist Khusen Khamizov. Throughout his life, Husen Ismelovich was worried about issues not only of his work. So in the days of Khrushchev, a law was being prepared for the complete destruction of donkeys. Husen Ismelovich began the struggle to preserve these unpretentious four-legged workers, reliable assistants of the mountaineers. In a letter to Prime Minister Kosygin, Khusen Khamizov proved that without the help of donkeys that brought ammunition in the harsh conditions of the highlands, our army would not have held the passes, and the invaders would have broken through into the Transcaucasus. After receiving this letter, Kosygin ordered to end the campaign to destroy the donkey tribe.

Title: Red Army soldier Type of troops: Artillery He got to the front after Bryansk region was liberated in September 1943. Having suffered in Nazi captivity from the atrocities of the Nazis, the guys themselves came to the newly organized military registration and enlistment offices. He comes from the small village of Baikovo, near Karachev. He helped bring shells to the artillerymen when there were fierce battles for Karachev. In the army, he was assigned to a rifle unit. After two weeks of training, they sent a submachine gunner to the front with a marching company. In a respite between battles, when their part was taken to rest, the artillery commanders who came to them took away several people. So he became an artilleryman. He was short, but nimble, quick-witted, he caught military training on the fly. In the battles for Vitebsk, he was already appointed the gunner of the 76-mm gun. In the summer of 1944, their artillery regiment of the 30th rifle division was all the time in the combat formations of the infantry, supporting the advancing companies and battalions with fire. Especially fierce battles unfolded on the outskirts of the city of Borisov. The fascists in one of the sectors of our defense launched a counteroffensive. The rifle company was pushed aside. But further the gunners did not allow them to advance. The battery was at the forefront of the enemy attack. The explosions of shells and mines, the whistle of machine-gun bursts did not stop, did not pin down our gunners. Neglecting the danger, Khokhlov, with his crew, quickly rolled the gun out of cover in his hands and began to shoot the enemy infantry with direct fire, suppressed several machine-gun nests. The fascists could not stand such a friendly fire, Seeing the support of the artillerymen, our infantry rose in a swift attack. On that day, they drove the enemy for more than ten kilometers. He took part in the liberation of the Belarusian city of Molodechno, the Lithuanian city of Alytus, near the Pillau fortress on the Baltic coast. For several days, infantry, artillery, naval paratroopers destroyed the encircled group of Nazis on the narrow sandy spit of Frisch Nerung. Already when the battle subsided, a shell that exploded a few steps away heavily concussed Ivan Mikhailovich. He met Victory Day in one of the field hospitals. For this reason, he was early demobilized.

Rank: Colonel. Type of troops: aviation. My father, Pavel Vasilievich Khrapkov, was born on September 17, 1914, died on May 23, 1993. Fighter pilot, participant of the Great Patriotic War from the first to the last day. Before the war, he lived in Leningrad, worked, studied at a flight course. From the first days of the war he was drafted into aviation. He recalled: “... constant raids and bombing by the Germans haunted our small group. We slept on planes, food was brought to our cars. You will forget a little, and again the order - “Air! Air!". We took off immediately. They fought back. Many of our people were shot down, but we did not remain in debt either. He himself was hit, woke up already in the hospital. On another occasion, he was surrounded by German aircraft. I was the squadron commander and they decided to take me prisoner. Above, below and on the sides of the enemy vehicles. I saw the smoke of a burning factory ahead and sent the car there, the Germans lost me. Another time he was shot down in the Luga area, and ended up in a group of soldiers leaving the encirclement. I was the only one who had a map. Brought everyone out. " After the exhausting battles of the first months of the war, some were sent to rest and reorganized in Kadnikov, Vologda Oblast (November 1941). The regiment lost more than half of its pilots in killed and wounded. We lived in apartments in Sokol, where he met my mother. Before the war, he had a wife and a one-year-old son in Leningrad. He received a message that they were killed by bombing on the train while leaving the city. My mother is a teacher, a divorced woman, fell in love, got pregnant. Her father asked her to leave her pregnancy: “I can be killed at any moment, and after me there will be no one left on earth. The family of the head physician of the evacuation hospital lived in our apartment, she helped to find my father, arrange alimony. Subsequently, the wife of Pirap recalled. When he received a summons, took off his cap, hit the ground with force and said: “Where should I go now? Leave four children on you? How is it possible, the mind is incomprehensible. " At that time, for all honest people, the defense of the Motherland was considered a sacred duty. His elder brothers Aharon and Hovhannes were already at the front. Aharon was a sniper and was in a military unit stationed north of Stalingrad, and Ovanes was in a motorized rifle regiment in Crimea. In May 1942 he was drafted into the Red Army and sent to Stalingrad, where, after completing his command courses, he was promoted to senior lieutenant. The 8th Guards Army, which was ordered to strike to liberate the Donetsk region, took up a defensive line along the Seversky Donets. Using a respite during the defense, the command of the 8th Guards Army developed a plan and prepared an offensive to liberate the Donetsk region. From 8 to 23 August 1943, a successful offensive of the Red Army was carried out to liberate the Donetsk region. In a letter dated August 25, 1943, he writes: “... on August 23, in the morning at 8 o'clock, during the offensive he was wounded, in a row for the third time. The bullet hit the neck, entered on one side and exited on the other. I am in the hospital for treatment. " In a letter dated September 4, 1943, he writes: “... the wound has closed and again I am at the front. I don't write about the news, because every day you hear about the successes of the Red Army. " In a letter dated September 7, 1943 (the last letter) he writes: "... they gave out a good paper and decided to report once again that he quickly recovered from the wound he received, is alive and well, I am at the front." During the war years, the post office worked irregularly. Often, letters from the front were delayed and did not arrive sequentially, but several letters together. It was even more difficult with the reply letters, since the front was continuously moving forward, the location of the military units was changing, and their numbers also changed. The letters written from Kursk, where he mentioned awards and the next increase in military rank, have not survived. On the 7th of September I wrote a letter, and on the 8th I was wounded in battle, for the fourth time in a row, and what happened after that is not known, there were no more letters. In 1944, a request was made to the Main Personnel Directorate of People’s Commissariat. The answer was received: To your N GUK-4/081244 dated December 8, 1944, I inform you that military unit Khatlamadzhiev Khachik Markarovich served in military unit 59353. Rank: Corporal. Type of troops: Ground Forces, Air Force (except naval aviation), coastal service, NKVD troops, border troops. My grandfather Alexander Vladimirovich Khokhlov was born in the city of Vyazma, Smolensk province on August 15, 1908. His mother, Matrona, died in childbirth. First, he was taken up by his grandfather, the mother's father, who lived in the village. It was a short, happy time in his childhood. But when the child grew up, the father took him to his city. The family lived very poorly: the father married a second time, 3 more children were born, the stepmother did not love Sasha. He was sent to beg from home, to ask for bread. Good people gave bread, but it happened that the dogs attacked, and some people beat. And most of what he collects, the stepmother took away the younger children. Then Alexander was given "to the people", he served in a wealthy family, where the attitude towards him was also far from good. Alexander felt freer after the revolution - he became a Komsomol member, entered the teacher's institute. Before the war, Alexander Vladimirovich Khokhlov worked as a history teacher in a rural school in the Smolensk region, was the head teacher. During the German occupation, on a false denunciation (that he was a communist), he was sentenced to death, but when the Germans were already leading to execution, local residents stood up for him and asked the German officer to check his documents. He checked his passport, canceled the shooting, ordered to send him to a concentration camp for civilians. Together with another teacher A.V. Khokhlov planned his escape. The wire in the camp was still without current. The escape was a success. The concentration camp was in the Smolensk region, my grandfather managed to come to his village. Here he built a dugout in the forest, in which he hid during the day, and at night he came home to the children (2 daughters and a son, his wife died before the war), the woman who took care of the children also fed him. In March 1943, when the front approached Vyazma, the grandfather took the children to the forest. The youngest daughter asked for a drink, and he was afraid that the Germans would hear, he melted the snow. And then I heard Russian speech - our soldiers came. Alexander jumped out to them and began to hug: “Brothers! Relatives! Come! I'm hiding here with the children. " The children were sent to an orphanage in the Kirov region, and their grandfather was drafted into the Red Army (Semelevsky district military enlistment office). A.V. Khokhlov went from Vyazma to Berlin in the 33rd army, which from 1944 was part of the 1st Belorussian Front. At first he was a telephone operator, and then, after training, he became a radio-telegraph operator. Participated in the Berlin operation. In April 1945 Khokhlov saw a German officer at close range. The German fired the pistol first, but missed. And the grandfather from the PPSh was accurate. The officer turned out to be a staff officer, with important documents in the tablet, which helped our army in conducting an offensive operation. Grandfather was awarded for this. Alexander Khokhlov received his first wound on the night of February 23-24, 1945. April 24, 1945 A.V. Khokhlov kept in touch during the battle being wounded. For this feat he was awarded the Order of Glory III degree (4.06.1945). A.V. Khokhlov was mobilized only in 1946. Echelons with Soviet soldiers passed through Hungary. Grandfather was riding in the second, and the first was blown up. He and other soldiers were ordered to clear paths. In 1946 A.V. Khokhlov first arrived in the Smolensk region, but there he saw only ruins and went to the Kirov region, where there were children. He stayed in the village of Semyonovskoye, Shabalinsky District, began to work again as a history teacher at school, married a Russian language teacher Nina Aleksandrovna Petropavlovskaya, and two more daughters were born. After retiring, he worked part-time. Somewhere in the late 70s, while on duty in the boiler room, A.V. got under a current of 380 V, but a man who entered soon turned off the voltage and saved his grandfather. But health was seriously undermined - the heart muscle was damaged, a heart attack, and he received no treatment. In 1980 A.V. Khokhlov moved to the city of Pushchino, Moscow Region, to his daughter. Here he stitched his last years. In 1985 he celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Victory in Pushchino. In July 1985 he died of a second heart attack at the age of 77.

My grandfather, Yuri Nikolaevich Kharchev, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. Was born in 1919 in the city of Velikiye Luki. In 1941 he graduated from the first Leningrad Artillery School (LAO) with the rank of lieutenant. From the first days of the war he commanded a company of intelligence officers on the Leningrad front. Once, having occupied a height on the Nevsky patch, his company corrected the fire of our artillery and was surrounded. Yuri Nikolaevich, with minimal losses, took people and equipment out of the environment, for which he would be awarded the Order of the Red Banner, and he himself was seriously wounded. Extract from the order: “Comrade Kharchev, being the platoon commander of the headquarters battery, carried out his reconnaissance to enemy territory six times, always obtaining important information about the enemy and showing great composure, courage, valor and skillfully directed the actions of the entire reconnaissance group ... always after receiving the order to withdraw the battery, he was the last to leave the battle, covering the entire group. In one of the reconnaissance, Comrade Kharchev with the Red Army soldier Gavrilov, covering the battery withdrawal, held back a strong enemy attack together, while killing eleven soldiers. The next time Kharchev, going deep into enemy territory with a telephone set, adjusted the fire of our artillery. The enemy not only opened weapons and machine-gun fire, but also launched mortars, mines exploded nearby, covering Kharchev with earth, but he continued to adjust the artillery fire. For bravery, courage and useful data obtained in intelligence, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.
