He lived for eighty-four years and, although the best years (from 29 to 45 years) were torn from his creative biography by the war and deportation, the remaining forty-five years of work are inextricably linked with science, education, higher education and culture of the Kalmyk people. He was not only a scientist but also recognized as a prominent public figure of the Republic of Kalmykia. After graduating from the Saratov pedagogical Institute, he worked as a teacher at an adult school. He participated in campaigns to eliminate the illiteracy of the population ("likbez", kultsturm"), in the implementation of the program of universal education of children. In July 1941, he was called up for military service and sent with the rank of captain to the 7th army, stationed in Mongolia. In February 1944, he was demobilized as an enemy of the people and exiled to Biysk, Altai territory, where his family lived. During the years of exile, Dorji Antonovich is engaged in his favorite business, working as a teacher of Russian. His mind and experience were highly appreciated by Director p. I. Ermilov, who was not afraid of the NKVD, appointed his Deputy. On his return to his Homeland, D. A. Pavlov actively engaged in the restoration of public education and faced with the fact that the generation of children born and raised in exile, does not know their native language, not to mention the traditions and customs. And Dorji Antonovich and his students go on folklore and dialectological expeditions around the Republic, collecting precious material bit by bit: vocabulary, dialectics, traditions and rituals of our people. Kalmykia was faced with the task of restoring the education system, and until 1994 Pavlov systematically reprinted old and published new textbooks, teaching AIDS, programs, grammar tables on the Kalmyk language for secondary schools. In January 1964, D. A. Pavlov was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Kalmyk ASSR and oversees issues of education, culture, science and social sphere. In December 1967, he returned to KNIYALI as a senior research associate. During the 1968-70 years. the scientist completes his doctoral dissertation "Research on the Kalmyk language and writing" and successfully defends it. From October 1970 to June 1995, D. A. Pavlov worked as the head of the Department of Kalmyk language and literature, Professor at the Kalmyk state University. Dorji Antonovich Pavlov, a lexicographer, made an invaluable contribution to the compilation of the "Spelling dictionary of the Kalmyk literary language" and participated in the creation of terminological and bilingual dictionaries. The scientist's articles devoted to various problems of Kalmyk linguistics are of lasting importance and are published in a separate collection "Questions of the history and structure of the Kalmyk literary language". Professor D. A. Pavlov worked at Kalmyk University for 25 years and did a lot for the development of his native faculty, which has now become an Institute. He developed the first University curriculum in the direction of "Kalmyk Philology", defined the scope and content of specific courses, and compiled specialized programs of disciplines and practices. When it was introduced, the teaching of the old Kalmyk script; his pen belongs to the textbook "todo bichig "(Clear writing), he also became the first teacher of this discipline. The role of an outstanding scientist in the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel for the University is very significant. Major linguist and teacher Dorji Antonovich Pavlov made an invaluable contribution to the development of Kalmyk linguistics, to the formation and development of education and higher education in Kalmykia.
