The veteran was born in the village of Shishkovo of the Kryzhinsky village council of the Zhukovsky District on March 13, 1925. In 1933, his father died in a famine year, and the eight-year-old boy remained the oldest man in the family. It was necessary to help the mother raise her younger brother and sisters. Alexey did not go to school, he was not up to school. Later he went to work in a kolkhoz. And then the war started. In October 1943 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. He ended up on the First Belorussian Front as a Private. _x000D_ He participated in the liberation of the city of Bobruisk. In June 1944, the troops of the Belorussian Front under the command of General of the Army K. K. Rokossovsky launched an offensive operation. On June 27, a tight encirclement ring was made, and on June 29 Bobruisk was completely liberated from the German fascist invaders. _x000D_ The bloody combats for the liberation of brotherly Belarus did not pass without a trace. In July 1944, having been seriously wounded in one of the battles, Alexey Ivanovich was hospitalized. He underwent two operations on his leg. In the hospital, where he took part in the collective writing of the lyrics of the songs of the war years, in 1945 he learned excellent news: Germany had surrendered, fascism was defeated. There was no end to exultation and joy. The terrible war nightmare ended, but there were hard post-war years ahead. _x000D_ Alexey Ivanovich returned to his native village Shishkovo, but there was no house, it was burned by the Nazis. He took shelter at neighbors. His mother died soon after. There was no limit to grief. He was left homeless and the person most dear to him passed away. _x000D_ The veteran bravely endured all the that he hardships to face after the war. After a while, Alexei Ivanovich got married and had children. In 1945, Alexei Ivanovich was awarded the medal "For Victory over Germany." In addition to this medal, he has three more awards. They all talk about his hard combat path. Alexey Ivanovich composed many poems and songs on military topics. With the support of the Zadubravsky village council, a collection of poems was created and published, which is called "Poets-fellow countrymen about the war". This collection also includes the poems of Alexei Popkov.
