Most likely, he took part in Operation Mars in 1942. Their regiment and division left the encirclement with heavy fighting in the Rzhev area. During the breakthrough, the Division suffered heavy combat losses and losses from hunger and disease. The Division broke through in the autumn of 1942 through the swamps and dense forests of Smolensk and Rzhev. _x000D_ After leaving the encirclement, it was reorganized near Moscow, and sent to the region of Rzhev and the city of Bely, Smolensk region (now Tverskaya). At the end of 1942 and the beginning of 1943, the Division and the Regiment participated in the Rzhev-Vyazemsk offensive operation, directly to liberate the cities of Rzhev and Bely. _x000D_ Nikolai Fyodorovich Sviridov was killed in an attack in March 1943, in a combat for the villages of Gribovo and Zabolotye, Belsky District. He was buried in a mass grave in the village of Zabolotye (1119 people, 14 of which are unknown). _x000D_ The burial has survived to this day, although the villages have been abandoned since 2007. In 2014, slabs with the names and initials of all the fallen were installed on the grave. According to updated data in 2014, 1227 soldiers and Commanders of the Red Army are buried in the mass grave. Among them is Dmitry Ignatievich Kuznetsov, Hero of the Soviet Union.
