Michael Yegorovich Chunosov, Senior Lieutenant

He was born in 1912 in the village of Yarlukovo (now the Gryazinsky district of the Lipetsk region). He worked as a shepherd from childhood and graduated from a village school. Then he worked as a mechanic at the Dzerzhinsky plant (in the city of Voronezh), at the same time he was engaged in a glider school. In 1935 he voluntarily joined the Red Army. He graduated from the Engels Military Aviation Pilot School in 1937. He worked as a test pilot at the Air Force Research Institute since 1940. Senior Lieutenant M.E. Chunosov fought since June 25, 1941 on the frontlines of the Great Patriotic War as part of the 402nd Fighter Regiment, he flew the MiG-3 fighter. He shed the first blood on July 1, 1941, near the Idritsa station (Novgorod region). He was hit in aerial combat on July 8.
