Varganov, Sergey Grigorievich_x000D_ _x000D_ Sergey Grigoryevich Varganov (1917-14. 09. 1971) Sergey Grigoryevich Varganov was one of nine children in a large family of the master of the mechanical shop of the iron foundry of Kusa Grigory Grigoryevich and his wife Anna Grigoryevna Varganov. From a boy's age, Sergey became interested in technology. In my dreams, I imagined myself as either a pilot or a tank driver… But he clearly understood that without a good school education, dreams can only remain dreams. Among the few peers, Sergey graduated from the ninth year, and for the beginning of the thirties-this is a fairly high education… At the same time, he mastered the profession of a locksmith well. At the age of 22, he joined the party. His career developed rapidly. From October 1928 to April 1931, Sergey Varganov passed five stages of promotion from the driver of an agricultural cartel to the head of the commercial financial Department of an agricultural machinery plant. In April 1931, by the decision of the Central Committee of the CPSU(b) and the recommendation of the Regional Committee of the CPSU(b), he was sent to the Orenburg aviation school for pilot training, where he completed a five-month training course. However, the requirements that were imposed on future pilots during permanent medical commissions were very strict. Therefore, after almost six months of training, many cadets were faced with the fact that they would not have to fly. For this reason, at the end of 1931, Sergey Varganov was among the 27 pilots sent to the Orel armored school. After finishing school with "excellent", he was sent to the Leningrad tank school as a commander of a cadet platoon. Six months later, he continued his studies at the 10-month courses at the Moto-mekhvoisk Academy in Moscow. At the beginning of the great Patriotic war, captain Varganov, by order of the command of the Leningrad military district, as an excellent technical specialist, was sent to the Pushkin tank school to train military personnel, which the Red Army urgently needed. Sending to the front was preceded by work in 1943 at the Higher armored school in Magnitogorsk. Major Varganov received his baptism of fire on the Ukrainian front as part of the 27th army of the 320th rifle division as head of the operational Department. In the front-line memories of Sergei Grigoryevich, the smallest details of each of the battles that he went through during the war years remained until the end of his days. I talked to him a lot and I know how hard and unforgettable these memories were for the front-line soldier. He talked a lot about the Iasi-Kishinev operation that took place from August 20 to August 29, 1944, which is one of the outstanding strategic operations of the Soviet troops. It was led by the commander of the 2nd Ukrainian front F. I. Tolbukhin. In an exceptionally short time, Soviet troops inflicted a crushing defeat on the German group "southern Ukraine", which lost 22 divisions of the Wehrmacht in this direction. In these fierce battles, the t-34 tank, commanded by Varganov, knocked out two "tigers". The first military award of the Order of the red Star was awarded to Sergey Grigoryevich for courage shown in these battles. - The closer we got to the capital of Romania, Bucharest, the fiercer was the resistance of the fascists, - recalled Sergey Grigorievich. – The battle for one of the strategically important heights was particularly difficult. All day long we exchanged incessant heavy fire. The enemy tried to keep the height at any cost. Advance was hindered by a dense barrage, which forced the infantry to lie down. Our tank stopped with a broken track after a direct hit… Wounded in this battle in the left leg, Varganov managed to pull the driver out of the Smoking tank, for which he was presented by the command to the medal "for military merit". As another milestone on the long front-line path, Sergey Grigoryevich recalled the heavy, protracted battles during the liberation of Budapest. - Despite strong enemy resistance, German troops in the left – Bank part of the Hungarian capital, pest, were destroyed on January 18. But in Buda – the right-Bank part of The city, they lasted a long time. When the outcome of the fighting was already decided, on the night of February 11, the Germans moved with all their available forces to break through. At this time, we were in the tanks, and our "thirty-four" almost at point-blank range met the "tiger". I ordered the driver to deploy the tank to fire on the side of the enemy tank. Two volleys hit the target, and the German tank began to smoke and burst into flames… Probably, the military events near Budapest were especially memorable for Sergey Grigoryevich. A lot of things reminded the veteran of those days for the rest of his life. This is a repeated injury, and the consequences of hypothermia in the swamps, where he was among a small group of soldiers had to hide, being surrounded. Then it was not about saving their own lives – the group kept the most expensive soldier's relic-the battle banner. Major Varganov's services in the battle for Budapest were awarded the order of the red Star, the order of the Patriotic war, II degree, and the medal for the capture of Budapest. The composition of the 3rd Ukrainian front, 27th army infantry regiment 320 Mr Sergey Varganov to the rank of major and the post of chief of the operations division held a front way with the liberation battles in Bulgaria and Yugoslavia. The great Patriotic war ended for him in Austria. We were immediately given a rest. At first, we were struck by the piercing silence that followed. All around them, the greenery was raging, and all around them, the silence was ringing in my ears. And we, no longer afraid, walked through the famous Viennese forest… From Austria, as part of the 27th army, Lieutenant Colonel S. G. Varganov returned to the USSR on August 11, 1945. For his family and friends, his return was doubly joyful, like the resurrection from the dead… Because the message with the wording "missing" they mourned at the very end of the war. The military profession was given to the next years of life until 1954, when Sergey Grigoryevich Varganov retired from the Army for health reasons. The Budapest swamps made themselves felt for the rest of his life, his legs failed, and he was forced to walk with a cane.
