The photograph shows Pyotr Dempelev, born in 1905 in the village of Russky Urtem, Morkinsky District, the Mari Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. Colonel, senior battalion commissar in difficult tundra conditions, the polar soldiers under the command of our compatriot penetrated into the enemy's rear without a single loss, destroying a large enemy base with food and ammunition, disrupted the assault on the port city of Murmansk. For the successful completion of a combat mission, Pyotr Sergeevich was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.
