Peter Arkhipovich Biryuk was born on June 3, 1914 in the village of Zhuravlevka, Kharkov region. He graduated from the Leningrad Red Banner Military School named after V.I. Lomonosov. He graduated from the Leningrad Red Banner Military School named after Lenin Komsomol. During the war he served as Chief of Artillery Armament of the 935th Battalion of The People's Commissariat of Defense of the Soviet Union, participated in the Battle of Moscow. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star, medals "For Military Merit", "For the Defence of Moscow", "For Victory over Germany", as well as jubilee medals. He worked in the administrative and economic part of the Institute from 1975 to 1991.
