After the end of his service in the army, he immediately went to the front as a tanker. In July 1941 he was seriously wounded (presumably in the battles for the Brest Fortress) and spent 2 months in the hospital. Then he participated in the Battle of Stalingrad, in the battles on the Kursk Bulge, participated in the liberation of Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Germany. He took part in the battles for Berlin. He passed the Second World War from the beginning to the end. He was wounded many times. In the battle of Stalingrad, on the ice of the Volga, his tank was knocked out. Civilian women pulled him out of a burning and sinking tank
