My great-grandfather (my mother's grandfather) was named Fedor Yakovlev. He was born in 1906 to a peasant family in the village of Lenino Moshensky District of Novgorod Region.The war began My great--grandpa was drafted into the Soviet Army by the Moscow District Military Commissariat of the Novgorod Region on 23.06.1941. as a private of the 20th Medical and Sanitary Battalion, the 177 Rifle Division.
The family waited for a long time and believed that the soldier would return, but in March 1944, a notification came that Fedor Yakovlev was registered as missing.
Almost every family in our country has relatives who went missing during the war.
