Born into a peasant family, survived the famine of 1933. He began his career at the age of 13 at a water pumping station. Was drafted into the Red Army in 1938 in the 4th narrow-gauge railway battalion. The beginning of the war, June 22, 1941 met on the territory of Western Belarus,station Gromy of the Polotsk region. With the remnants of the battalion, they retreated to Vitebsk, took part in the defense of the city, then retreated to Smolensk, where they restored the railway lines. All this time, Georgy Melantievich kept the banner of the regiment, which included the 4th narrow-gauge railway battalion. Thanks to this selfless act, the regiment was not disbanded. Then Georgy Melantievich ended up in the health regiment in the town of Kulebaki, Gorky region, then he was trained as a Sherman tank driver. From the 52nd company of the 4th narrow-gauge railway battalion it was transferred to the 55th Armored Train Division. The location of the armored locomotive st. Gorbachevo of the Kursk road. The armored steam locomotive carried its combat service on the Skuratovo-Chern-Mtsensk-Tula line, the armored steam locomotive was serviced at the Likhabori depot (Moscow) - Moscow Kurskaya 2. During the hostilities near Mtsensk, the carriages in which our soldiers and officers were located took place. The carriages began to roll back to the front line. An armored steam locomotive under the control of the machinist Sergeant Georgy Melantievich overtook the cars and towed them to a safe distance. The fascists were shocked by such actions and did not offer proper resistance. Taking part in the battles near the city of Mtsensk, the armored locomotive under the control of Georgy Melantyevich inflicted a major defeat on the German troops and left the battle without loss. For the shown courage and loyalty, the command gave the Gratitude. By order of the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Railways, he was demobilized in 1944 to rebuild the country. In the civil service, Georgy Melantievich proved himself from the best side, he was awarded certificates and awards for conscientious work. They wrote about him in the newspaper "Put Ilyich" for January 6, 1961. Received the title of the best in the profession. He was an unusually talented, humble and hardworking person.
