Artemiy Maksimovich Agafonov, 1902 - 1942. Artemiy Agafonov was born in Karaulovka village, Kolyshleyskiy district, Penza region, Russia. On the eve of the Great Patriotic War he was called up for military training by the Kolyshleysky Regional Military Commissariat and went straight from training to the front, fought in the south. In 1941, after a regrouping of troops, he ended up in the South-West direction in the 38th Army. On January 18, 1942, the task was set to capture Kharkov. During the mission, there were both retreats and offensives. A.M. Agafonov’s unit protruded north of the Lozovaya railway junction. He died on March 17, 1942 in this battle near Lozovaya, and on March 18 the enemy retreated. Burial place - Ukraine, Kharkiv region, Lozovsky district
