He graduated from 6 classes, worked as a cattle breeder on a collective farm. In 1936-1938 he served in the Tuvan People's Revolutionary Army. In 1936 Khomushku Churgui-ool was drafted into the ranks of the Tuvan People's Revolutionary Army. It was there that he became a revolutionary member, and then - a member of the Tuvan People’s Revolutionary Party. After serving in the army, he became a chauffeur. In March 1944, the regiment took part in the Bugsko-Dniester offensive operation. In these battles, junior lieutenant Khomushku especially distinguished himself. A long and glorious way was passed by the crew in which Khomushku Namgaevich fought as a driver-mechanic. He especially distinguished himself in battles on Ukrainian soil when breaking through the enemy's defense near the villages of Ryzhanovka and Kobelyaki. At maximum speed, the Khomushku Churguy-ool tank burst into the enemy's location, destroying the equipment and manpower of the Nazis with fire and tracks. In the same way, with a powerful tank strike, the 52nd Army swept away the German defenses near Chernokamenka and fell on Uman. But the city could not be taken on the move. Then the command threw the 25th tank regiment around the city. Two armored vehicles, including the Churgui-ool tank, rushed into a frontal attack. Unable to withstand the rapid and bold onslaught, the Nazis fled in panic. 24 aircraft, 80 vehicles, 800 surrendered enemy soldiers and officers - this was the trophy of eight heroes - tankers in this battle. Fighting off the enemy's counterattacks, they held out to their last strength, to the last bullet, until the tanks of their regiment approached. For this daring battle, fearlessness and courage, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, Khomushk Namgaevich Churgui-ool was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. He was awarded the Orders of Lenin, the Second Degree of the Patriotic War and many medals. The driver-mechanic of the T-34 tank, junior lieutenant Khomushku Churguy-ool Namgaevich, in the battles to break through the enemy's defense, in the area of ​​the village of Ryzhanovka - Kobilyaki, Kiev region on March 5, 1944, showed exceptional courage and courage. The tank, driven by junior lieutenant Khomushku, rushed into the enemy's defenses at maximum speed, destroying enemy firing points and manpower with fire and tank tracks. With the tracks of the tank, junior lieutenant Khomushka crushed 2 anti-tank guns, 3 heavy machine guns and 15 enemy soldiers and officers. In the depths of the enemy defense, junior lieutenant Khomushku crushed the enemy's gun, but the tank got stuck in a trench. For two hours, along with the entire crew, junior lieutenant Khomushku repulsed the attacks of the Nazis who were pressing on the tank with grenades. When the tank commander was wounded, junior lieutenant Khomushku took command of the tank and, getting out of the tank, using grenades and personal weapons, destroyed 20 enemy soldiers who were trying to blow up the tank. Under machine-gun and submachine gun fire of the enemy, junior lieutenant Khomushku personally dug a trench, brought the tank out and again led the car into battle, destroying 1 anti-tank gun, 2 machine guns, 2 mortars and 15 enemy soldiers with its tracks. A few days later, near Uman, three tanks, among which was the car of Khomushku Churguy-ool, captured 24 aircraft, 80 vehicles, captured up to a hundred Nazis and opened the way for a further offensive. On March 13, when crossing the Southern Bug River, the brave tanker distinguished himself again. The award list noted: “... on March 13, 1944, when crossing the Southern Bug River, Junior Lieutenant Khomushku Churguy-ool quickly drove his car under water to the western bank of the river and immediately led the tank into battle to repel the enemy's counterattack, pursued the infantry for 6 km enemy, destroying the tank tracks 25 enemy soldiers, 2 light machine guns, 1 mortar. The tank of junior lieutenant Khomushku Churguy-ool was continuously in action from 5 to 18 March 1944, without a single case of forced stops ... ".On March 25, 1944, the tanker was promoted to the hero's rank. By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for exemplary performance of command assignments and displayed courage and heroism in battles against the Nazi invaders, Junior Lieutenant Khomushk Churguy-ool Namgaevich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal ( N 7008). Khomushku Churgui-ool became the first Tuvan - Hero of the Soviet Union and the only one awarded this title during the Great Patriotic War. As part of the 25th tank regiment, the brave tanker liberated Moldova, fought in Romania and Hungary, and celebrated Victory Day in Czechoslovakia. Kh. N. Churgui-ool, returning after the war to his native Tuva, for a long time actively participated in creative work, made a worthy contribution to the patriotic education of youth. Since 1948 Lieutenant Khomushku is in reserve. He returned to his native Tuva. He was elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and did a lot for the village that became native - Bert-Dag of the Tes-Khem region. The Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union was created on the basis of the Bert-Dag school. One of the streets of the Tuvan capital, the city of Kyzyl, is named after the Hero. There is a bust at the entrance to the National Park on the Alley of Heroes; for many years the state farm in Tes-Khem also bore its name. By the decision of the Government of the Republic of Tuva, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the aircraft Yak-42 D with tail number RA 42429 of the Inter-Avia airline was named after the Hero of the Soviet Union, Tuvan soldier-volunteer Khomushk Churguy-ool Namgaevich.
