Ivankov Vasily Kasyanovich
Rank: Captain 3rd rank Type of troops: USSR Navy and the Naval Forces of the NKVD border troops. Born on April 10, 1920 on the Novokoretsky farm, Novograd-Volynsky district, Zhytomyr region. In 1939 he graduated from the Belotserkovsky Medical College and was called up for active service in the Navy. From December 1939 to November 1943 he served as a medical assistant in the Pacific Fleet's Torpedo Boat Brigade. In 1941, after completing officer courses at the Pacific Higher Naval School, he was awarded the title of "Military Assistant". In March 1943 he was a lieutenant in the medical service. In November 1943, he was enlisted in a special command - crews of boats, acquired in the United States under Lend-Lease, formed in Vladivostok. In June 1944, the personnel of the 20th division of the Great Hunters of the Navy, arrived in the United States (Miami). After mastering the materiel and practicing combat missions, in October 1944, the division made the transition to Scotland. Due to stormy weather in the Atlantic, many boats needed serious repairs, which were implemented in the ports of Glasgow and Edinburgh. In April 1945, the division, as part of a convoy of a convoy of allied transports, arrived in the town of Polyarny, Murmansk Oblast. After the end of the Great Patriotic War, he continued to serve in the Navy. In the Northern Fleet he served as a medical assistant on various ships. In 1950 he was transferred to Leningrad on an experimental ship "Reid" Research Institute No. 11 of the Navy. Having mastered the diving specialty in 1955 he received the qualification "Officer-diver". In 1960 he was awarded the title of "Diving Specialist of the Navy". He took part in testing new models of diving equipment. From February 1963 he was engaged in light diving training for submariners in the 3rd training scuba diving detachment, Kronstadt. The last place of service was the 39th brigade of submarines under construction and repair, Leningrad. He finished his service in 1970 with the rank of "Captain 3rd Rank". He was awarded two Orders of the Red Star, the Order of the Patriotic War II degree, medals For Military Merit, For Labor Valor, For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, Veteran of the Armed Forces of the USSR, "For impeccable service of the 1st degree", as well as jubilee medals to commemorate the Victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, in connection with the anniversary dates of the USSR Armed Forces and the medal "In Commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of Leningrad". He died on January 25, 1987.
