Branch of service: Army, Air Force (except marine aviation), the Coast Guard, the NKVD troops, Border troops. Malik Gabdullin- Kazakh Soviet scientist, teacher, writer, full member of the APS of the USSR (1959), honored scientist of the Kazakh SSR (1961), doctor of Philology, Professor (1959), Hero of the Soviet Union (1943). Member of the CPSU since 1940. He was born on November 15, 1915 in the village of Koysalgan (now Zerendinsky district of Akmola region of Kazakhstan). He is a direct descendant of Kanai Kuttymbetuly-Kazakh Biy, one of the leaders of the Kazakhs of the Middle Zhuz, a Major Commander, chief adviser to Abylai Khan and a public figure of the XVIII century. He belonged to the Middle Zhuz, subgenus karauyl of the Argyn genus. From the age of 14, the boy was brought up in the family of the famous Kazakh writer Sabit Mukanov. He graduated from the Abai Kazakh pedagogical Institute in 1935. After graduating from the Institute, Malik Gabdullin served in the military (1935-1937). Then he worked as a literary worker in the newspaper "" Sotsialistik Kazakhstan ""(1937), Deputy editor of the newspaper"" Kazakhstan pioneri "" (1938), researcher at the Institute of language and literature of the KazFan USSR (1938), in 1938-1946 — graduate student of Abai KazPI Institute. In 1941-1945, he participated in the great Patriotic war as part of the Panfilov Guards Division. In January — March 1942, in the battles near the city of Kholm in the Novgorod region, Gabdullin led a group of soldiers who,hit 2 tanks with grenades, destroyed a large number of fascists and captured 12 of them in a battle with the predominant forces of the fascists. Gabdullin was wounded in the battle, but did not leave the battlefield. For this feat, Senior Political Instructor Malik Gabdullin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the order of Lenin and the Medal of ""Gold Star"" by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on January 30, 1943. After the war, he was engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities, worked as Director Of the Institute of literature and linguistics of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences (1946-1951), rector of the Abai KazPI (1951-1963), head of the folklore Department Of the Auezov Institute of literature and art of The Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences (1963-1973). The main topic of Malik Gabdullin's research is the heroic epic, folk songs, fairy tales, proverbs and sayings of the Kazakh people. He participated in the preparation and publication of a multi-volume history of Kazakh literature. His scientific work ""Kazakh heroic epic"" was awarded the Ch. Ch. Valikhanov prize in 1972. Malik Gabdullin is the author of a number of works of art: ""My front-line friends ""(1947),"" Golden star ""(1948),"" Front-line essays ""(1949),"" Everyday life of war ""(1968),"" About friends- combat comrades ""(1969),"" Terrible years "" (1971). Some of the works were published in Russian in translation by I. P. Shchegolikhina. He died on January 2, 1973. He was elected a Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 2nd-4th convocations."
