My great-grandfather Kvashin Pavel Petrovich served in the Red Army since 1927. In 1939 he participated in the battles on Khalkhin Gol. In 1941 he was drafted from Ulyanovsk, where he lived with his family. In November 1943 with the rank of Guards Major, being in the position of Chief of Staff of the 178th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 60th Guards Red Banner Pavlograd Rifle Division, he was presented to the Government award "Order of Alexander Nevsky" for the operation to force the Dnieper
