Navy

Rank: Petty officer of the 2 class. Military branch: the Soviet Navy and Naval forces of the NKVD border troops. Krasikov Nikolai Alexandrovich, guard foreman of the second degree, has gone through the entire war on the guards’ cruiser "RED CAUCASUS "(served as a machinist in the engine room). On April 22, 1939, by the Vozhegodsky District Military Enlistment Office of the Vologda region he was called up for active service in the BLACK SEA FLEET. On December 15, 1939 he was enlisted in the list of personnel of the guards’ cruiser "Red Caucasus". On it, he met the beginning of the war, went (or sailed, to be precise,) through the entire war and only on December 8, 1946 was demobilized. For almost eight long years, his family did not see their son, worrying about him, and looking forward to his return. He participated in many military operations. He liberated Kerch, Sevastopol, Novorossiysk, Feodosia, and Odessa. Participated in naval battles in the defense of the Caucasus. In one of these operations, he was injured and concussed, and had to learn to walk and speak anew. And after the hospital, he went back to the ship and back to battle! But the bullet lodged in the humerus of his left arm would bother him for many years to come. Only 4 years before his death - he died in September 1986 - the surgeon removed this enemy bullet. He did not like to talk to his relatives about the terrible days of the war, but he was often invited to school to host Memory Lessons, where students listened with great interest to his stories about these years. In sea battles, their cruiser, "RED CAUCASUS", repeatedly received serious damage from the attacks of enemy aircraft and enemy artillery. But the base was quickly repaired – and was back - advancing on the enemy! The most memorable battle for him - was the descent in Feodosia on the night of December 29, 1941. According to his memory of it, an icy wind was blowing, water waves were rolling on the decks, visibility was getting worse by the minute, the ship was beginning to prepare for artillery. Soon the command to open fire on the Feodosian port, which was occupied by the enemy, was given. The sea air shuddered, and flames leaped from the RED CAUCASUS's gun muzzles. At this moment, another ship, the RED CRIMEA, was also striking the port. The first waves of paratroopers broke the organized resistance of the enemy directly at the docks. When they were approaching Feodosia, the wind increased, changed direction - this made it difficult to moor, soon the ship "Red Caucasus" began to drift in the direction of the minefield, arranged by the enemy very close to the pier, where the ship was headed. That was the moment when the engine room sailors had to work through blood, sweat, and tears. Commands from the bridge poured in - one after the other - and above them was a wall of fire... the battle was getting worse. With great difficulty, the cruiser managed to moor, and when the light of the missiles showed the enemy that the "Red Caucasus" was in front of them, a huge number of enemy firing points entered the battle. And then, an explosion! The sailors that survived the explosion put out the fire, which burst out on the signal bridge. The German tanks that approached the shore opened fire, and then they were hit by shells of the main caliber raining from the ship and literally destroying Hitler’s tanks, the ammunition depot was blown up as well. The Germans suffered enormous damage. But not the cruiser "Red Caucasus" was not left without losses, either. The ship itself received a lot of damage. But still, under a wall of fire, at the cost of human lives, the unstoppable paratroopers were able to land ashore. And when the sailors of the engine room heard the command " Full speed ahead!", the cruiser was once again brought to sea. For the unprecedented boldness of the operation he received awards. There were many similar operations. Sometimes one had to wonder how it was possible to pass such trying tests of the war and remain such a kind soul. This is still said by everyone who once knew Nikolai Alexandrovich. He loved life very much, loved us: his wife Alevtina Alekseyevna, his four daughters, doted on his grandchildren! Dad's total work experience on railway transport was 48 years. He worked as a locomotive driver, and a depot attendant. VOZHEGA (during retirement worked as a stoker of a locomotive-heated railway houses). While he was working, for a long time he was an unreleased chairman of the Trade Union Committee of the Depot station Vozhega.

Dmitry Andreevich Glukhov (November 7, 1906-November 11, 1943) was a captain of the 3rd rank of the Soviet Navy, a participant in the great Patriotic war, and a Hero of the Soviet Union (1944). Dmitry Glukhov was born on November 7, 1906 in the village of Khmelino (now-Cherepovets district of Vologda region) in a peasant family. He finished five grades of Junior high school and worked as a steamboat sailor on the Sheksna river. In 1928, Glukhov was drafted to serve in the Workers 'and peasants' Red Fleet. Since 1929, he served in the Black sea fleet, first on the cruiser "Comintern", then on the patrol boat “Albatross". He was a coxswain, boatswain, assistant commander. Finished the command staff courses. Before the war, he commanded a sea hunter unit. He was on the front from the first day of the Great Patriotic war. Boats of the Glukhov’s unit were the first among the vessels of the Black sea fleet to open fire on the enemy, and later the last to leave Ochakov, Odessa and AK-Mechet. Dmitry Glukhov's unit participated in the defense of Sevastopol, often making crossings to Novorossiysk. Glukhov was seriously wounded in the fighting. After being discharged from the hospital, he became the commander of the 1st division of patrol boats. Participated in the battles for Novorossiysk, Taman Peninsula and Crimea. On the night of October 31 to November 1, 1943, Glukhov's division protected ships that landed troops near the village of Eltigen (now within the city of Kerch). The division's boats supported the paratroopers with fire during their actions on land. Thereafter, Dmitry Glukhov carried out the transfer of new units, ammunition and food across the Kerch Strait to the captured bridgehead. When the division was attacked by enemy ships one night, the crew of Glukhov's boat sank a barge and hit the enemy's boat. On November 8, 1943, while the division's boats were unloading on the Crimean coast, two shells exploded on Glukhov's boat, fatally wounded him. On November 11, Dmitry Glukhov died from his injuries. He was buried in the city of Poti in Georgia. 3rd rank captain Dmitry Glukhov was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union for "exemplary performance of command assignments at the front against the German invaders and showing courage and heroism" by the Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Council of 22 January 1944,. He was also awarded two orders of Lenin, two orders of the Red banner, and the order of Suvorov, 3rd class. Streets in Novorossiysk and Sevastopol are named after Dmitry Andreevich Glukhov, as well as the ship of the Ministry of river fleet.

Branch of troops: Land forces, air forces (except naval aviation), coast guard, NKVD troops, border guards). Vasily Boldyrev was born in the village of Novozavedennoye, in February of 1921, on the Pancake week, but the date of his birth was mentioned in archives as June 21st. He studied at school with great pleasure and desire, and was considered to be the best student. The tall, slender, curly-haired brunet sang well, played the balalaika virtuosically, and was the soul of the school parties. From a young age, Vasily helped his father around the house, working with him in the field, since there were enough things to do at home: the family had many childrenand he, as the oldest, had to work in the garden and manage the household. After completing seven years of school education, Vasily Boldyrev went to the city of Stavropol, where he entered the faculty of foreign languages at the pedagogical university. In September of 1940, a 3rd-year student was drafted into the army from the city of Stavropol. Vasily Boldyrev became a sailor in the city of Sevastopol at the Black sea. He served at the 2 OAD main base of the Black sea fleet as signalman of the coast guard. But a peaceful and happy life was interrupted by the war. From its first days, the Black sea sailors heroically defended their beloved city and the Motherland. Nazi attacks were choked one after another! The sailors showed miracles of bravery and military valor. They didn't think about food, but they were thirsty and had to quench their thirst with salt water from the sea. Together with his comrades, Vasily Boldyrev protected the withdrawal of military units from the heroic city of Sevastopol, was wounded in the arm, and lived with a bullet all his life. 3.07 1942, according to the command, Boldyrev Vasily Pavlovich went missing. According to the memoirs of his great-grandfather, he had to swim across the Bay. Wounded, he was taken a prisoner. Soviet prisoners of war were driven by the Nazis to the city of Shepetovka in Ukraine. So Vasily was kept in a prison camp there. Then he and several of his companions managed to escape. Later, he ended up in a partisan unit on the territory of Yugoslavia. After the war, due to the prevailing circumstances, as well as the government's distrust to former prisoners of war, he was sent to a labor camp in the Irkutsk region, where he was without the right to correspond until 1955. Vasily Pavlovich lived and worked in the village of Chuna. In Irkutsk, he graduated with honors from the forest technical school. In 1955 he was rehabilitated. That is why his relatives were able to see Vasily only 15 years later, since he was for all this long time considered as missing. In 1965, he moved with his family to the city of Ordzhonikidze in North Ossetia, there Vasily Pavlovich worked as a master and teacher in a specialized children's institution. Father of Vasily Pavlovich - Pavel Semyonovich Boldyrev - took part in liberation of the city of Sevastopol from the Nazis. V. P. Boldyrev passed away in 1997, at the age of 76. His grandson - Oleg Pavlovich Boldyrev - lives in the city of Sevastopol and is serving in the marine corps. He serves at the very same place where the 35th battery fought during the Great Patriotic war, and his great-grandfather defended his native Sevastopol. The name of Vasily Boldyrev is immortalized on the memorial Pantheon of Glory as one of the defenders of Sevastopol.

Rank: Captain of the 1st rank. Branch of troops: the USSR Navy and the Naval Forces of the NKVD border troops. My grandfather Sofronov Yuri Mikhailovich, was born on November 26, 1912 in the village of Zolotye Priyski (Gold Mines) of the Perm Territory. Childhood and youth were spent in the Urals. He was drafted into the ranks of the USSR Armed Forces from the city of Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg). After completing his command Courses in November 1936 and being awarded the rank of “Lieutenant”, he was sent to serve in the Amur Flotilla, then continued serving in the Pacific Fleet, where he met the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The grandfather did not have to take a direct part in the hostilities, the authorities refused to numerous reports about his transfer to the Baltic or the North. However, he contributed to the victory over fascism. In 1941, the US Congress adopted the state program "Lend-Lease Law", according to which ammunition, various military equipment and ammunition were transferred to the allies in the anti-Hitler coalition. The safest route was the Pacific route. My grandfather Yuri Sofronov became a direct participant in this. He was directly involved in the formation of convoys, manning the crews of ships received under Lend-Lease for further dispatch by the Northern Sea Route to the Northern Fleet. In June 1942, the EON-18 Special Purpose Expedition was formed from the warships of the Pacific Fleet, the leader of "Baku", the destroyers "Reasonable", "Furious" and "Zealous" to replenish the surface forces of the Northern Fleet. To replenish the submarine forces of the Northern Fleet for relocation from the Pacific Fleet to the North, 6 submarines were prepared - "L-15", "L-16", "S-51", "S-54", "S-55", "S- 56 ". Two of them, "S-51" and "S-56", became Red Banners, and in 1945 "S-56" was awarded the title of the Guards. Fascist Germany was defeated, but in the east, near the borders of the USSR, a million-strong Kwantung army was concentrated, Japanese warships impeded navigation, it was necessary to finally end fascism. _x000D_ The General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces planned an offensive operation to defeat the Kwantung Army located in Manchuria, with the direct participation of the Pacific Fleet. To strengthen the naval grouping of forces, in the period from April to June 1945 of the year, it was necessary to accept and staff 250 ships transferred to the United States under Lend-Lease. _x000D_ For the transfer of the data of ships to the USSR in Alaska in the Cold Bay, a naval base was equipped. We worked for days, without sleep or rest, and the mission was completed on time. For exemplary fulfillment of State Defense Committee missions for manning, training crews, accepting ships from the United States and transferring them to the ports of the USSR, Sofronov, like a large group of personnel of the Pacific Fleet, who directly took part in this operation, was awarded 4 orders and 4 medals. After the end of the war, Comrade Sofronov continued to serve in the Caspian Flotilla and the Baltic Fleet. In 1964, he was transferred to the reserve from the post of Deputy Chief of the ammunition of mass destruction of the Twice Red Banner Baltic Fleet. _x000D_ After the end of the service my grandfather, Yuri Sofronov returned to the city of Sverdlovsk, but after retiring, his active life did not end, he headed the DOSAAF Naval School, where he continued to train personnel for the Navy. Later, he took a direct part in the creation of the Sverdlovsk section of war veterans of the Soviet committee of war veterans._x000D_ As part of the initiative group of Ural veterans, a Hospital for War Veterans was built in Yekaterinburg, and a Memorial to the Ural soldiers was opened. Until the last days of his life, Yu. M. Sofronov took an active part in the fate of veterans, in the patriotic education of youth.

Such was the fate of the Soviet officers who were surrounded. After several months of camps, Ilya Savelyev returned to the construction profession and worked in Leningrad from 1946 to 1957 as a foreman and head of a workshop. Maytak Nikolay Yakovlevich

Mukhin Nikolay Vasilyevich

Mudyugin Leonid Ivanovich

Shpynev Viktor Filippovich

Yakov Sharenkov was a member of the second generation of the seafarers' dynasty. The Maritime tradition of several generations of Sharenkovs began with his father Ivan, who stormed the rebellious forts of Kronstadt. Yakov was born in the small village of Hiriki in the Okulovskiy district of the Novgorod region. During the Finnish war, as a naval artillery scout, he corrected the fire of soviet batteries. In the Great Patriotic Wwar, he fought on the destroyer Friedrich Engels. It was torpedoed in 1941 by the Germans and sank. Yakov escaped miraculously, but was severely wounded. After the hospital, he served on the turboelectric ship Joseph Stalin. The fate of a military sailor is difficult and dangerous, and Yakov again found himself between life and death. Under heavy fire of German warships, the Joseph Stalin splitted in two pieces. One of them immediately sunk. Icy water covered Yakov and he almost lost a hope of salvation when the crew of the icebreaker Ermak, which happened to be nearby, saved him. Yakov was a good skier and during the siege of Leningrad helped to build the Road of life on the ice of Ladoga Lake – the only link between the exhausted city and the Mainland. The evacuation of thousands of people, the supply of food and weapons that help the city of sea glory withstand a grueling siege - all this is also due to Yakov Sharenkov. For his courage and bravery, he was awarded five orders of the Red Star, the order of the Patriotic War and many medals. He met his life friend Anna at the front. She volunteered to the Red Army, went through the siege of Leningrad, served as a radio operator, providing communication with warships. The war ended for them in Germany, where they served until 1947. Their son Igor named after his grandfather also a sailor was born there.
