Mandzhikov Fedor Chimidovich_x000D_ Rank: Senior Lieutenant_x000D_ _x000D_ Mandzhikov Fedor Chimidovich was born on May 15, 1912 in the village of Ilovaiskaya, Rostov region. He was the 13th and only surviving child of the poor Kalmyk family of Chimid and Nadvida Mandzhikov. Through the care of his parents he received his primary education. According to his recollections, especially his mother always directed her son's thoughts to getting an education. _x000D_ In 1931 he entered the workers' faculty, and a year later he entered the first year of the Saratov Automobile and Road Institute named after I. Molotov. After graduating from the institute in 1937, road engineer Fyodor Chimidovich Mandzhikov worked as the head of critical sections of the construction of the Kuibyshev hydroelectric complex, then at the Zhezkazgan copper smelter. These were the largest industrial facilities of their time. _x000D_ During the Great Patriotic War, Lieutenant and then Senior Lieutenant Mandzhikov fought in 231st road construction battalion of 5th tank army of the Southwestern Front and 1st Ukrainian front. He launched and built bridges for the active army under combat conditions. In June 1944, like many Kalmyk front-line soldiers, he was recalled from the active army. First, he was sent to the city of Chkalov (now Orenburg), then to Kyrgyzstan as the head of the road maintenance section No. 955 of the Frunze-Osh road. In May 1949 Fyodor Chimidovich was demobilized as a Kalmyk, but stayed to live and work in Frunze, head of the "Kirgizpischestroy" trust, then director of the city industrial complex. _x000D_ In 1951, he moved with his family to Kuibyshev (now Samara), where he took part in the construction of the largest metallurgical plant in Kuibyshev in those years in the country and in Europe. In 1961, at the invitation of the Kalmyk Regional Committee of the CPSU, which was then headed by the Hero of the Soviet Union Basan Badminovich Gorodovikov, Fyodor Chimidovich returned to his homeland. His merits were marked with the Order of the Patriotic War, II degree, and many medals. He was elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Kalmyk ASSR, his name is on the list of Honorary Citizens of Elista. Fyodor Chimidovich was the head of a large family, raised six children, to whom he was a good loving father. He always maintained optimism, breadth and generosity of soul, interest in life and people and willingness to help. He did a lot of good and useful things in life.
