I want to tell you about my grandfather Pavel Pesterev. From the memoirs of his daughter (my mother) Pestereva (Borodina) Antonina Pavlovna: My father, Pavel Pesterev, was called up to the front in June 1941, I remember how our mothers cried loudly when they saw our fathers off to war, they left with their duffel bags on their shoulders, and we barefoot children sat on logs and laughed, not understanding what was happening, why our mothers were crying, that many of our village would not return home. We got three front - line triangles from dad-letters and that's it. My mother sent packages and letters to my father, but they returned after a few months without finding their destination. My mother cried when she looked at the green contents of the packages, and I cried with her, feeling something bad. In 1947, we received a notification that dad had gone missing in October 1942. We sent requests, but there was no result. My mother believed that my father would return, waited for him all the time, and died with this hope that he was alive. And in 1990, after the death of my mother, I again wrote a letter to the Central Order of the red Star Archive of the Ministry of defense of the USSR. The response came on February 28, 1991, where it was reported that private 1786sp Pesterev Pavel Yemelyanovich, while on the front of the great Patriotic war, died of wounds in German captivity on 26.10.1942, Boholt concentration camp in Germany and was buried in a common grave. At her request, I am now writing this letter to perpetuate the memory of our grandfather Pavel Pesterev In the "Immortal regiment of Russia".

I often asked myself why I had such a love for horses. When I grew up, I started asking my grandmother and father. It was from them that I learned about my great-grandfather-a brave cavalryman, and the desire to tell more about him made me dig a lot on the Internet, find out the details of his military path. Rank: senior Lieutenant. Type of service: - ground forces, - air force (except naval aviation), - the coast guard, troops of the NKVD, - the border guards. Division: 3rd guards cavalry Kuban-Mozyr red banner order of Suvorov division. My grandfather was a man of few words, not very fond of talking about the war. From the stories of my grandmother, what I was able to "dig up" on the Internet, there was such a story: my great-grandfather was Drafted into the army in 1932, he was a participant in the Finnish war. He graduated from high school there. Kvarkensky RVC was drafted into the army on 12.08.1942. First, an 18-year-old boy, he was sent to the Guryev military infantry school, where they trained Junior officers for the front. It was not necessary to finish it, because the enemy threatened Stalingrad. The cadets were sent as part of a reserve battalion to the Volga border to reinforce the defenders of the city. They were trained as officers, and sent to the front as ordinary soldiers. He served in the 290th guards SP, 95th guards SD, member of the CPSU (b) from 1944. He fought on the Steppe, Voronezh, 1st and 2nd Ukrainian fronts. From near Stalingrad, the soldiers of the unit where I. V. Petrov served were sent to Kursk. We went on foot to the positions, covered 30 km per night, hid for days, disguised ourselves in the woods or ravines. 40 km from s.Prokhorovka had to create another line of defense: each soldier had to dig 8 meters of trenches per day with a small sapper shovel. The entire defense was built in five echelons. Ivan Vladimirovich recalled that on 5.07.1943, about three o'clock in the morning, the ground shook, and artillery preparation began. It turned out that our gunners started it, anticipating the Germans. The infantrymen in their trenches did not know this, at first they thought that the Germans had broken through. By midday, the first vehicles with the wounded went to the rear along the road that passed nearby. Petrov said: "on the night of July 7, we were built and sent to the front line. There were almost no infantry left, and the ranks of the first echelon defenders were battered. We, graduates of the military school, almost officers, naively thought that we would quickly cope with the enemy, because we are more experienced soldiers. However, at dawn, the air bombing began, the fascists flew almost over their heads. Many cadets died on the same day. July 12 morning did not portend bad, the sun was happy and promised a pleasant day. The calm was broken by tank armadas that were moving towards us from the enemy side. A messenger from the company commander came running and said that the tanks should be allowed to pass, and the infantry should be destroyed. Our tanks went to meet the enemy, and a hot battle ensued. We Marines were caught between two fires. Tankers jumped out of burning cars, not knowing where our people were, where the Germans were. When the fascists made a maneuver to the ravine in which our wounded were hidden, we received the command to also take to the right and not let them go there. In this battle, I had to command a platoon, because the commander was killed. Lifting the fighters forward, I was wounded. Some half-finished fascist shot and pierced my helmet and head." Sergeant Petrov received the first wound and lost consciousness, he was considered dead, left on the battlefield. He woke up when it started raining. The paramedics picked up the soldier and sent him to the medical unit. 20 days had to be treated, he was threatened with disability, documents were being prepared for the rear. Ivan Petrov could not imagine himself an invalid, he stole the documents and returned to his regiment, although the bandage was still white on his head. This was August 2, and on August 3 the offensive began. Sergeant Petrov joined the intelligence platoon. For the memorable battle of 12.07.1943, he was awarded the medal "for bravery". In August, near the Dnieper river, he received another wound, then on the territory of Ukraine he was shell-shocked and wounded for the third time. By order of the 95th guards SD of 18.06.1944, he was awarded the order of Glory of the 3rd degree. At the end of the war, by order of 26.05.1945, he was awarded the order of the red Star. Awarded The commendation of the Supreme Commander for the liberation of the cities of Belgorod, Poltava, Kremenchug, Znamenka. He marched with the battles of his regiment from the Kursk bulge to Prague and the Elbe. At the end of the war, he received commendations From the command for participating in the liberation of 14 European cities. At the same time, in 1945, he was awarded the Silver star of the us Congress – one of the highest awards of the allies. He received this award for bravery when meeting with American troops on the Elbe. His intelligence group was in a difficult situation, because during a meeting with the allies, the Germans suddenly appeared: the Americans retreated, and the Soviet fighters took the fight. They stopped the last American Willis car that was leaving (that was the first time Ivan saw an African-American), explained the method of firing the gun in the car with signs, and held the German infantry, in addition to destroying the tiger tank. The allies retreated safely, and the fascists also retreated. The intelligence and courage of the scouts saved the situation. For this, petty officer Petrov was awarded the Silver star. A few days later, parts of the 95th guards SD were transferred to Czechoslovakia. Once the scouts found themselves in the woods near a small hut of a local resident. It was from him that we heard about the end of the war. He listened to the news of the German surrender on the radio in the basement and pleased the Soviet soldiers. After the liberation of Prague, Ivan Vladimirovich's chest was decorated with the medal "for the liberation of Prague". On may 9, the fighting continued, unfortunately, I had to participate in the encirclement of the ROA (vlasovtsy) troops. In those days, a second meeting with the Americans took place-accidentally during an intelligence operation to identify the Vlasovites. On a forest road, a car carrying a Colonel of American troops was also fired at. The soldiers of the 290th guards SP repulsed the Colonel and his driver. After the fight, the driver saw a Silver star on the tunic of Sergeant Petrov and explained that he would be given another one for saving the Colonel. But it wasn't meant to be. "On may 14, we celebrated the Victory! Tables about 100 meters long were built in a forest clearing. The division commander came to congratulate his men. That day I saw men crying, " Ivan Vladimirovich recalled. In early September, he had to participate in the Victory parade, and then he came home on vacation. He served for some time in Austria, and was discharged I. V. Petrov only in February 1947. After the war, he returned to Blue Sheehan,

While studying in College wrote a touching boyish letters to parents and brothers, but as the time part in the fighting, the rare and more serious became of the letter, it felt as though growing up fast, this 19-year-old student yesterday, younger brother, and pet of the whole family. All these letters, newspaper notes about him, his drawings, and the report card for the 1941-1942 school year are carefully preserved in our family to this day. His friends who returned from the front recalled later that he wrote to them: "The game in the "Chapaya" continues. Only there we have guys fell on purpose, then to get up and again participate in the "war", and if the arm or leg who was scratched, it was considered an accident, then here is a completely different matter...". I don't know exactly how many fights he took part in, he didn't write about it in his letters. According to the memoirs of his comrade, I. Nikulin, on January 14, 1945, his platoon received a task: under cover of night, cross the Vistula, go to the Western edge of the village of Brzec (Brzesce) and cut off the path of the Nazis. When they quickly rushed into the village, the Germans saw that the squad was very small, and opened heavy fire on the platoon. Then the main forces arrived and the task was completed. But at the end of the battle, Volodya was hit by a stray bullet. The order was already received by my great-grandmother and great-grandfather. The family felt very hard about the death of grandfather Volodya. The great-grandmother did not cope with this loss for the rest of her life. My older brothers Ivan and Peter, my grandfather, kept the memory of Volodya all their lives and passed it on to their children. By the way, my father, who was born after the war, was named Vladimir in honor of his uncle. Initially buried in the village.
