My great-grandfather Alexander Mikhailov was drafted into the army in 1942. He immediately went to the front - in the 13th Guards Division, which fought as part of the Guards Army of Stepnov, later the 2nd Ukrainian Front. They sent him to Stalingrad. He was young, handsome, fervent, never discouraged, and everywhere he carried an accordion with him. He was wounded in the stomach, went to the hospital, and after - the front again. He was a driver, delivered ammunition. He did not get to Berlin until the war ended. My grandfather was awarded two orders of the Red Star, the order of the Red Banner and medals For Military Merit.
