Akhmet Musiyevich Uzhakhov

Akhmet Musievich Uzhakhov was born in 1920 in the village of Bazorkino in the Prigorodny district of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. He was the eldest son in the family. Since 1939, he had been in the ranks of the Red Army. Before the war, he took an officer course in Smolensk. Lieutenant Uzhakhov Akhmet was commander of the 539th rifle regiment during the war. In his last letter Akhmet wrote to his family that they were located near Vyazma. As you known, in October 1941, hundreds of thousands of Soviet soldiers were surrounded near Vyazma. Losses in killed and wounded Red Army exceeded 380 thousand people; more than 600 thousand people were captured. Around this time, Lieutenant Uzhakhov Akhmet went missing in 1941.
