Nikolay Pimenov fought for a total of 13 months as part of the Karelian and Volkhov fronts. He was the commander of a mortar crew, an orderly. He received a severe concussion, did not speak for 50 days, there was a loss of hearing and vision. After the hospital he returned to the front. He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, medals "For the Defense of Leningrad", "For Victory over Germany".
