Victor Efimovich Karpov (born January 5, 1915) - foreman, commander of the 62nd Pontoon Bridge Battalion. He went through the whole war. Participated in the defense of Moscow, the liberation of the Leningrad region, Ukraine. Awarded medals "For the Defence of Moscow", "For the capture of Budapest", "For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941 - 1945". The title of the Hero of the USSR was awarded on March 24, 1945 for courage and bravery shown while forcing the Danube River: in three days he made 60 flights across the Danube and ensured the timely transfer of units of the 59th rifle division to the bridgehead.
