From 1940 he served at the border. He met the enemy in the first hour of the war. He fought on Malaya Zemlya. Was wounded in Novorossiysk, Grozny. Passed through Poland, Hungary and reached Berlin, where he was wounded again. He was awarded two medals "For Courage" and "For Merit in Combat".
