In the photo my grandfather Stepan Podgorny,a private soldier. Brought from the front, barely alive, paralyzed. As far back as I can remember, he said almost nothing (his speech was broken), but he worked all his life on a collective farm. He gave birth to and raised 10 children with my grandmother. He died in 1991, at the age of 81.
