Alexander Vasilyevich Egorkin was born on 29 September 1918 in the village of Nikolsk (Piksankine), Naskaftymsky parish, Kuznetsky district, Saratov province (now Shemesh district, Penza region) in a peasant family. In autumn 1939, he was drafted into the Red Army. He served in a tank regiment in the Transbaikalia. In December 1945 he was demobilised. He lived in Kuibyshev (now Samara). He died on 11 March 1992 and was buried in Samara in the Rubezhnoye cemetery.
