Makovetsky Dmitry Grigorievich was born on October 26, 1925 in Kavalersky hamlet of Kushchevsky district of Krasnodar Territory. He was called up to the front as a rifleman in February 1943. He went through the entire war as an artilleryman, participated in the liberation of the Crimea. After the war, he did not immediately get home, but served as a sapper in the airfield construction regiment. Demobilized on April 15, 1948. For bravery, perseverance and courage shown during the war years, he was awarded of the Order of the "Patriotic War 2nd class", medals "For Victory over Germany", “Medal of Zhukov" and many other anniversary medals.
