Portrait of my grandfather (the photo was taken between battles)
In is the only surviving portrait of my grandfather (thanks to him, my father and I at least know what my grandfather looked like). Grandfather Matyukhin Yakov Mikhailovich was born in 1910. He was a junior sergeant, gunner of an artillery gun. He served in Artillery Regiment No.777, Rifle Division No.246, Army No.65, 1st Ukrainian Front. He called up into the war on 05/28/1942. During the war he performed 2 feats, for which he was awarded of two medals “For courage”. He died 01/09/1945 in Poland at the Sandomierz bridgehead.
