All his life he carried in his heart that bright Victory Day which he celebrated in East Prussia in May 1945. Only a year after Victory Day, in May 1946, Sergeant Deryugin returned to his native settlement of Yaya. Before the war he worked at the Yaya timber processing plant. From here he left to serve in Red Army in 1938. Served on Lake Khasan. In the pre-war 1940 he returned to his native enterprise and on June 22, 1941, the first day of the war, he joined the ranks of the defenders of the Motherland. Then there was Kursk Bulge (the Battle of Kursk).
