Viktor Sergeevich Butenko started his battle way in 1941 as a private soldier. He served in the air regiment. At the very beginning of the war he graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Junior Aviation Technical School. He was enlisted in the 995th Air Assault Regiment. Viktor Sergeevich prepared planes for flights. That was a very responsible job: after all the outcome of the upcoming battle and the effectiveness of the air mission depended on the serviceability of the aircraft. Ended the war in Berlin. Before that there was Stalingrad, the liberation of Europe. Viktor Sergeevich Butenko was awarded Orders and Medals: the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class, two Medals "For Battle Merit", the Medal "For Capture of Budapest", the Medal "For Capture of Vienna".
