Alexey Grigorievich Solorev was born in 1918 in the village of Artyushkovo, Rylsky District, Kursk Region. In spring 1939 he was drafted to Red Army. Alexei Grigorievich took part in Finnish war which began in autumn, 1939. His military unit stayed in Baltic States. He graduated from tank school and received rank of sergeant before the war and at the end of his regular service Great Patriotic War broke ... German troops rapidly advanced across the territory of the USSR. The enemy tried to capture the railway junction of the city of Madona in the Latvian SSR, in June 1941. Fierce fights began.
