My own great-grandfather on my mother’s side Fugol Maxim Nikolaevich (1897-1943), a native of the village of Ilskaya, Seversky District, Krasnodar Territory. Before the occupation of the village of Ilskaya by the Nazi invaders, at the end of the summer of 1942, he served as chairman of the village council. With the arrival of the Germans, bodies of the "new" local government began to appear. Mass arrests began. Maksim Nikolayevich, like many communists of the village who were captured by Germany, was sent to Krasnodar and assigned to forced labor. In early 1943, he died of suffocation in the so-called death machine - "gas chamber". He was buried in the mass grave of the All-Saints Cemetery, in Krasnodar.
